Shares of Google's parent company Alphabet (GOOGL) are higher Tuesday. The upside comes even as reports swirl that antitrust officials at the Department of Justice (DOJ) have asked a federal judge to force Google to sell its Chrome web browser.

The U.S. Department of Justice is preparing to ask a judge to consider pushing Alphabet’s Google to divest its Chrome browser, according to reports Tuesday, as the Biden administration’s top antitrust officials makes a last push to crack down on the tech industry before leaving office.

Now, Alphabet, Google’s parent company, may be forced to sell Chrome. The browser, which was launched in 2008 and integrates with Google’s search engine, is used today by some 3.4 billion people worldwide.
