The parents of the teenager killed in a mass shooting at Tuskegee University over homecoming weekend have filed a lawsuit against the school.The wrongful death lawsuit also targets two security companies - International Protection Investigation Agency LLC and JLL Americas Inc.

A newly unsealed federal complaint says a man accused of having a machine gun at Tuskegee University admitted to firing his weapon during a weekend shooting, but denied shooting at anyone.

According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Jaquez Myrick, 25, was found in possession of a handgun with a machine gun conversion device.

The shooting, which also wounded 12 people, happened early on Sunday as crowds gathered at the historically Black school to celebrate the final day of its 100th homecoming week.

The parents of a teenager who was killed in a shooting on campus during Tuskegee University's homecoming are suing the school.

Authorities said Montgomery resident Jaquez Myrick, 25, was seen leaving the scene of the shooting. Myrick was allegedly found in possession of a handgun with a machine gun conversion device and was arrested Sunday on a federal charge of possession of a machine gun, an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesman said.

Tuskegee University has been named in a wrongful death/negligence lawsuit filed by the parents of a teen who was killed in an on-campus shooting that injured more than a dozen others following the school's homecoming festivities.
