In late morning trade, the Dow rose 0.6%. The S&P 500 added 0.4% and the Nasdaq composite also advanced 0.4%. Small caps on the Russell 2000 climbed 0.5%. Markets will do a half day of trading Friday, with the stock market closing at 1 p.m. ET
