Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched a complete game for Los Angeles, his only run coming on a lead-off home run by Jackson Chourio. Max Muncy and Teoscar Hernandez each hit solo home runs for the Dodgers, and Shohei Ohtani had an RBI single. Los Angeles will take a 2-0 series lead home to Dodger Stadium for Game 3 on Thursday at 6:08 p.m. ET
A few batters later, Bo Naylor smacked a three-run homer to put the game out of reach. Guardians closer Cade Smith, who came in for the final out of the eighth inning, kept the Tigers off the board in the ninth to secure the victory.
Lost in the craziness: L.A. hit Quinn Priester well that inning. Hernández walked, Freddie Freeman hit a rocket to left field that Isaac Collins had to jump to catch, Will Smith and Tommy Edman singled, then Muncy hit a ball to the top of the wall in center. Priester and the Brewers are fortunate to escape that inning without a run scoring.
In Game 2, the Dodgers turn to All-Star Yoshinobu Yamamoto (12-8, 2.49 ERA), while Brewers ace Freddy Peralta (17-6, 2.70 ERA) takes the mound in Milwaukee. Both pitchers have made two starts so far in this postseason, each posting a 1-1 record.
