The United Parcel Service, more commonly known as UPS, announced Tuesday that it was planning to eliminate an additional 30,000 jobs in 2026. The company eliminated about 48,000 jobs in 2025, 34,000 of which were operational and 14,000 of which were management.
UPS is doubling down on reducing its relationship with Amazon.
The UPS layoffs in 2026 are a result of the organization’s dialing down its business with Amazon, duplicating the 48,000 cuts made last year.
The delivery company said it was planning the cuts this year because it expected to deliver fewer packages for Amazon, a large but unprofitable customer.
UPS reported sharply lower earnings in the third quarter and said it expects lower revenue and thinner profit margins ahead, but it noted a slowing global economy, not its recent labor issues, is the reason.
