The man accused of killing three people in a stabbing spree Monday had been released from New York City jail a month earlier and was free on bail for other alleged crimes in New Jersey, records showed.

Ramon Rivera, 51, was taken into custody after he was found with blood on his clothes and two kitchen knives, authorities said.

Two men were killed and a woman left fighting for her life after a homeless New York City man allegedly committed a series of random stabbings, police said.
