Stellantis said on Tuesday it will deploy a new vehicle system that will support assembly of gasoline, hybrid and electric models, but in a sign of how turbulent the electric-vehicle transition is, the automaker also delayed production of Ram electric pickup trucks.

Stellantis is delaying the launch of its Ram electric pickup trucks from this year until the first half of 2025.

Stellantis has announced the rollout of its new STLA Frame platform for gasoline, hybrid and electric vehicles. But both the automaker and the production delay of its highly anticipated Ram electric pickup also illuminate the obstacles the EV transition faces.
