Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, have begun leaving the town in the wake of President-elect Trump’s sweeping election win, after Trump vowed mass deportation of migrants.

“It would be a mistake,” Lindsay Aime, a Haitian immigrant who has temporary protected status until 2026, said of the deportation plan. “All the businesses across Springfield, if you lose good, beautiful workers, you will feel it economically.”

Donald Trump vowed to deport the Haitians of Springfield during his campaign. Many in the Ohio community are worried and praying after he won the presidency.
