Today marks the anniversary of the March 1964 "Good Friday" earthquake; rated a magnitude 9.2 event, it was one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded. The massive earthquake in Alaska created an equally massive tsunami, which was measured up to 220 feet high. 122 people were killed by the tsunami in California, Oregon, and beyond throughout the Pacific basin. Damage from the tsunami was seen in Hawaii although no one lost their life there from this event. USGS produced this interesting video
