Eruptive activity at the summit of Kīlauea volcano on the Island of Hawaiʻi remains paused as of December 2. However, USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory geologists on a monitoring overflight this morning observed a spattering lava surface deep in both the north and south vents in Halemaʻumaʻu crater.
