Applying a 10% basic solution of Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) to a #Pycnoporellusfulgens (that’s my best guess at least) Polypore. I believe it’s a brown rot fungus that grows on hardwoods and conifers (related to Fomitopsis). This is not an edible mushroom nor have I heard of it having any specific medicinal benefit..Check out the wild color change as pigments in the mushroom flesh are deprotonated by the basic solution. It looks to turn a reddish purple then eventually go blackish. Pretty neat ex
